Chapter 5
She felt a tingling sensation throughout her body and was feeling weightless. Her feet left the floor and was hovering. She felt her whole body raise in air as though she had been transformed to human helium balloon. It took her a second to find her voice. She was yelling and slushing and was trying to hold to ground. Her parents rocketed to kitchen screaming “MAYA, MAYA what went wrong what happened?”. Her brothers too reached the kitchen hearing all the commotion.
As soon as they glanced her, they knew what was happening. Maya was floating and soaring up in the kitchen. She hit the ceiling and bounced back and forth between the walls. In the process she pulled the kitchen lights and was dangling with the fixture. Any moment the fixture would give away and light bulbs may shatter down, sending millions of glass pieces on the floor. Maya was uncontrollably yelling. Her parents stood rooted to the spot taking the scene in.
“WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING? WHY AM I FLOATING?” Maya was panic yelling.
“Yaye Maya, Maya, even we want to fly !!” screamed Ajith and Ajay. They were super excited to see their sister flying and oblivious to the fact of danger behind it. They climbed on the island counter and jumped to try and catch her. It was amusing and fun for them.
“Oh! No! I did a grave mistake! I shouldn’t have brought it home” mumbled Avinash.
“OMG! OMG! the thing you stole, was it the liquidated promethium??tell me ??” shrieked Sadha.
“Yes” choked Avinash
“How could you Avinash? It’s illegal” cried Sadha. She was shell shocked. Though she knew that liquidated promethium isn’t fatal or harmful as liquidated helium, seeing her daughter dangling horizontally with light fixture and screaming for life, made her insides squirm raising her blood pressure.
Avinash was panicking too. “Don’t worry, Maya we are here. You are safe. Nothing will happen. The effect wears off itself in an hour or so. How did you get it in first place?”
Maya didn’t listen a word. She was screeching in despair.
“Maya, stop screaming and listen to me. Nothing is going to happen to you. Relax.” Avinash ordered sternly
“RELAX? Dad I am swinging upside down and I feel my stomach in my throat. I am going to throw up now, how can I relax?”
“I know. I am terribly sorry it’s all my fault.”
“MAYA!!” She bumped her head on the table. It was dusk outside her window. She must have dozed off when she was thinking for a plotline of her story. What a weird dream!! She was still able to feel her accelerated heartbeat and was sweating profusely. “MAYA! Come down for dinner” her mom’s voice boomed from below.
Maya had a satisfied grin on her face. Plotline for her story was ready!
THE END.
