Freefall Fun Night

Chapter 2

Maya hurried to notice board to confirm it with her own eyes. There it was, the pink flyer

Maya was excited. She wanted to participate without doubt but also, she was unsure of her ability as a writer. Whatever be it, she has to try to know whether she is good at it or not so she decided to do it.

“See I told you, didn’t I?? Look at that smile. You can do it girl!! “Nora was peering over her shoulder with a confident grin.

Nora, she is a cheerful and supportive friend one can ever ask for. She is very outgoing and has lot of friends but Maya is her bestie. They both have been friends since kindergarten, so Nora knows pretty much everything about Maya and vice versa.

Maya had her doubts in trusting the supportive nature of her friend ever since second grade. It was sports day and Maya is terrible at athletics. Nora’s encouragement (pretty much nagging) made her join 500 m sprint. Not only she was the last to complete the sprint but Nora’s yelling and cheering from the stands made it even worse. Maya was hyperventilating both from running and embarrassment. On top of that she even had guts to ask her to join the relay race. That’s when Maya stopped participating in sports meet altogether. But this is different, Maya knows what she does and she wanted to participate.

“Yes, yes, I will write something up and send them. Ok?!”

They heard their school bell ring. Its their homeroom hour now. So, they both hurried to class.

All morning Maya was not able to concentrate in the class. She was pondering on what to write for her fictional story. So, her morning passed with pre occupied thoughts and occasional nods to acknowledge her physical presence in class.
